This webinar provides an overview of the Diagnostic Practitioner Review (DPR) Service.
A Diagnostic Practitioner Review (DPR) will, through a detailed snapshot assessment, highlight gaps in service provision, recognise good practice and make recommendations for service improvements. Fundamentally, the review acts as a ‘critical friend’ assessment of how a local authority is performing in its efforts to both prevent and tackle homelessness. The review involves process mapping the customer journey through the service by talking to and shadowing staff, meeting with partner agencies and organisations (external and internal, statutory and non-statutory) and completing a series of off-site and on-site assessments.
Once a review has been completed, reviewers will return to provide a comprehensive feedback session which lasts approximately two hours. During the feedback session, reviewers will set out the overall score for the review, scores for individual elements of the review and highlight both good practice and recommendations for service enhancement. Participating in a practitioner review is a fantastic way for local authorities to check their compliance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
