This course begins with a look at the duties, powers and statutory guidance concerning local homelessness strategies and covers collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitive data, reviewing levels of homelessness, undertaking effective consultation, strategic commissioning and developing a SMART action plan.
The Homelessness Act 2002 requires local authorities to have a strategy in place for preventing homelessness in their district. Peer reviews supported by NPSS in over 100 local authorities demonstrate that those which have a strong, prevention focused, strategy in place deliver a more comprehensive and efficient front line service. This course will support you with both reviewing your current strategy and developing a new, prevention focused, strategy.
